FEAST. by Megan Gogerty, Produced and Directed by Flinch Read. RAGE 2023.
FEAST. by Megan Gogerty was produced and directed by Flinch J. Read in 2023. The production was a study on off-putting characterization in the theater as a method of audience distancing. FEAST. itself is a one woman play in which the mother of Grendel, the monster from Beowulf, invites the descendants of the ‘hero’ who killed her son to a dinner in order to try them for the crime of their forefathers. It deals with themes of rage, justice, and power and asks the audience to question the behaviors that society tells us our everyday by seeing them through the lens of someone who has been strongly othered. The production was funded by the Reed Arts Grant Experience (RAGE) and sold out all four nights that it ran.

The Amazing Cunt and Lil’ Bitch Take Portland! by Katy Koop, 2024
The Amazing Cunt and Lil’ Bitch Take Portland! by Katy Koop was directed by Flinch J. Read as a part of their senior thesis, “Caring Creation: Centering Survivors in Katy Koop’s The Amazing Cunt and Lil’ Bitch Take Portland!”, in March of 2024. The play is about two survivors of sexual abuse who become a queer vigilante duo that torture and murder rapists and put them on display for the world to see. This production in particular focused on staying true to the violence of the subject matter while using theatrical and trauma-informed methodology to care for the well being of the cast, production crew, and audience.
